Engage

Use the features of TLE to keep your site's visitors interested, and coming back for more. Integrate with social networking sites, promote your events, and offer premium content to your members and supporters.

Navigation & usability

Effective navigation, including dynamic site map and a-z

TLE site navigation is consistent throughout. Sites automatically display a breadcrumb trail illustrating the route through the navigation tree from the top level of the site to the current page. A site map is dynamically generated and updated, displaying a list linking to all sections, sub-sections and pages within a site. An A-Z facility allows pages to be marked as relevant to a given topic or topics. Pages are listed under the topic headings in alphabetic order.

Integrated site search

When TLE is purchased as a service, pre-built integration with industry-leading search engine technology is implemented as part of the solution, indexing the content of web pages and downloadable documents.

Advanced search

Using the ability to tag content, we can provide advanced search functionality, allowing a visitor to search for content based upon their selection of appropriate options from tick boxes and drop-down lists.

Mobile view

TLE sites are inherently viewable via mobile devices. However, if you want to promote specific content to your mobile user community, an optional view of the site, optimised for browsing via mobile browsers, can be implemented at extra cost.

Standard web pages

The significant proportion of any website consists of pages of textual content, with that content enhanced by the addition of images, video and audio files and links to other web pages, websites and downloadable content. TLE’s general content page provides the basis for creating pages such as:

  • Standard web pages
  • News stories
  • Case studies
  • Current job vacancies
  • Blogs
  • Events
  • Training courses

General content pages can have comments enabled if desired, allowing website visitors to contribute their views on the topic in question. Comments only appear within the page once reviewed and approved by the page editor.

If relevant to your organisation, we can use tagging to build searchable news archives, directories of case studies, job boards, blog postings, calendars of events and training course schedules.

Content summary

Build dynamic lists of content

The content summary feature enables you to build a dynamically updated list of specified content by drawing that content from one or more sections of your website. This can be used for example, as a component within a home page design to provide "Latest News" functionality, extracting the most recent information from a "News" area within the site for display on the home page. The summary view is also available as a page in its own right and can be used to provide a dynamically updated introductory page to website sub-sections.

Output RSS feeds

The summary feature can be configured by page authors to output the summary information as an RSS feed for consumption by other websites or via RSS readers.

XML (RSS) feed consumption

TLE enables you to specify XML and RSS feeds from other websites that have relevance to your organisation and site visitors and to display that dynamic content within your website.

Summarise tagged content

If you use tagging within your site, the content summary can be configured to take account of this. For example, if you had a news website where news stories were categorised by geographic region, it would be possible to provide a summary of all news stories across the website relevant to a specific region.

Events calendar

The TLE events functionality provides you with the ability to create general content pages which are categorised based upon information such as the event date, start time, end time, type and location. The events calendar provides a mechanism for presenting a summary of forthcoming events and for providing site visitors with the ability to search for events that are of interest to them based upon these criteria.

The events calendar data can be provided in i-calendar format, enabling a site visitor to download events to populate their own electronic calendar (e.g. MS-Outlook Calendar).

Events can be linked to an online booking form, enabling site visitors to register their interest in attending or participating in a particular event and (if e-Commerce functionality is implemented), to take payment for their attendance or participation.

Password protected access for site visitors/membership

TLE supports multiple password protected areas of the site, enabling you to provide access to content that is limited to certain groups or stakeholders. For some website sub-sections, access can be strictly controlled, with the site owner allocating passwords to nominated users. The solution also supports visitor registration, enabling visitors to create an online account which may entitle them to gain access to a particular sub-section of the site. Implementation of TLE’s e-Commerce functionality allows organisations to take payment for access to secured areas if required.

Registered users can be allowed to create a personal profile, selecting the sort of information that interests them within the site by picking from a list of pre-configured options. This profile information enables content "personalisation" and the effective targetting of "e-Bulletins" (see "Interact").

Social networking

Enrich your website content by linking to your Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and YouTube presence. We can support you in developing a strategy for the use of social media, using technologies such as Facebook Connect or the Flickr API to build tight integration with your website.
