What are Mandatory Groups?

You may wish to add a set of questions to your form where you require at least one of the questions to be answered, but not necessarily all of them. You can do this by using mandatory group names.

The form at the bottom of this page uses mandatory group names to require that at least one question is answered from two different groups of questions. Scroll to the bottom to see the form in action.

How to set up mandatory groups

It is really simple to add mandatory groups to your forms. Firstly, decide how many groups you want and think of a name for each of the groups.

When you are adding your questions to your form, mark the ones that you want to be in mandatory groups as being mandatory by ticking the Mandatory box.

Next, add the name of the group in the Mandatory Group Name box when you're adding your question. Carry on in this manner, making sure that you use the same mandatory group name for each question in the same group.

For example...

This is the first group. You need to answer at least one of these questions:

For both of these questions, we have ticked 'Mandatory' and entered a 'Mandatory Group Name' of "Group One"

And this is another group. You must answer at least one of these questions too:

For each of these questions, we have ticked 'Mandatory' and entered a 'Mandatory Group Name' of "Group Two"

Now, please try to submit the form without answering any of the questions. See what happens. Then answer some of the questions and see what happens then.
