Design

Can I modify the company logo on my site?

The modification of the logo on your site is a change that our Design team must make on your behalf.

How do I make a design change to the site?

Changes to the design of the site can be chargeable, as our Design team need to make these changes.

In which browsers is my site tested?

At the point that we perform the handover of your site to you, we will verify the browsers in which your site has been tested. We aim to test in the browsers most commonly used by the then current visitors to all of Cubik's hosted websites.

Going live

When can my site go live?

Before your site can go live, you and we both need to be happy that the site is ready to be available to the general public. You will generally concentrate on the site's content, so that it says what you want it to. We will have a full Quality Assurance review of the site once the technical development of the site is complete. The site won't be able to go live until that process is complete.

What is my Domain Name?

Your domain name is the human-readable address of your web presence. When browsing to your website, this name is mapped to a web server, which actually serves your site’s content. This mapping is done by a DNS (Domain Name Service) record.

Who Is My Domain Name Host?

Your DNS record is hosted by a domain hosting provider, and you will need to liaise with them to change the DNS record.

How Do I Update my Domain Name Records?

Each Domain Host has its own method for updating these records. Many now have an online control panel to do this.

How quickly will the site go live?

The change is not instantaneous and you will need to contact your Domain Name Host and Cubik to make the site live.

How do I delete a page?

When you select 'Edit this site', use the 'Delete This Page' button in the blue console to delete the page.

How do I enter text on a new line without a gap appearing between the lines?

Hold down the shift key and press enter. This will enter a line break rather than start a new paragraph.

How can I retrieve deleted pages?

Once a page has been deleted it is permanently removed from the system.

How can I add a Google Map that shows our office location?

You can use a snippet.

How can I add a Twitter Widget to my site?

You can use a Snippet.

How Can I Allow Users to Upload Documents?

You can use the 'File' input type on your web form.

How do I change the properties of pictures on a page?

To change the properties of an image, right click on the image and select the Set Image Properties tab.

How do I link directly to a resource?

If you have a resource in your resource gallery, you can get to it directly like this:

Can I add a Countdown to my site?

Yes, you can add a Countdown to any List of Links placeholder on your site.

What browser can I use to edit my website?

Your website can currently only be edited in Internet Explorer.

Media

Can I embed content from BBC iPlayer?

Due to the Terms of Use of the BBC's iPlayer, it is not possible to embed content from this source. However, content from a similar source, such as You Tube, can be embedded on your site.

Why do I use Media Manager to embed an FLV file?

The Media Manager button is used for embedding ALL types of media (video and audio files).

The Flash Manager button is used for embedding custom Flash animation, such as a Flash map or an interactive Flash game.

Missing Alternative Image Text

"The image 'example.jpg' in 'Page Body Content' does not have alternative text. This is important for accessiblity, please add at least two words of descriptive text."

Pages not appearing as expected

Why isn't my page appearing in the Navigation?

If you have created a new page but it cannot be seen in the navigation, there are a few steps that you can take to identify common causes.

Why is the Cubik logo displayed in the channel?

The Cubik logo is displayed in the channel when it is empty and no pages have been added.

Why don't all of my postings appear in the Channel Summary?

There are three common reasons why a posting or channel does not appear in a channel summary.

Hidden Pages are appearing in Search Results

Postings and Channels that are hidden when published are not automatically excluded from the site search. You need to select this option within the Page Properties or Channel Properties respectively.

I am having trouble aligning images

If you are having trouble aligning images, you might consider using tables to add structure to placeholders.

I can't access HTML Mode on my page

You need to enable Compatibility Mode in your browser.

Why doesn't the image properties dialog show after I select it?

If on right-clicking the Image and selecting Set Image Properties, the image properties window may be prevented from opening if your pop-up blocker is enabled on the site.

I'm having problems signing in to my site

There are a number of reasons why you may not be able to sign in. This can sometimes be caused by a setting on your computer, so there are a number of steps that you can try.

Is there a character limit on Usernames?

The maximum number of characters for a Username is 15 and so please take this into account when considering your Username policy.
