Going Live and DNS

Cubik doesn't host your domain name. To make any changes to your domains you will need to know the details of your domain host.

Your domain name (yourcompany.co.uk or yourcharity.org.uk) is hosted with a domain hosting company. To put your new website live, you will need to update some information with your domain host, called DNS records.

Each domain host has its own method for updating these records. Many have an online control panel to do this.

You can use two types of DNS record: a CNAME record, or an A record. We prefer you to use a CNAME record, but both methods are described here.

The preferred method

The following CNAME record will point your website at the correct Cubik server farm. This is the preferred method because should Cubik change the IP address of our servers, you will not need to change your DNS records again.

RECORD NAME: www
RECORD TYPE: CNAME
VALUE: host.cubik.co.uk.

Important: please ensure that you include the full stop at the end of the value.

If you add this CNAME record, you will have to remove any existing A record for the same record name.

An alternative method

The CNAME is not always an option with every domain host, so you can use an ‘A’ Record that points directly to the IP address of our servers

RECORD NAME: www
RECORD TYPE: A
VALUE: 62.44.70.60

Notes

PLEASE NOTE - You don't have to update any MX records or Name Servers. These can be left as they are.

When you update the DNS records, let Cubik know, as there are changes that we need to make to complete putting the site live.

Any changes to DNS records can take a long time to take effect as the changes propagate around the world. It may take up to 48 hours, but is usually much quicker.

If you have more than one domain for your site, Cubik will need to know the complete list of the domain names.

Informing Cubik of the change

If you are ready for going live and the DNS records are due to be changed, pleae complete this form to let us know.
