Friendly URLs

Friendly URLs are used when a certain page of the website has a well-known brand or identity associated with it, and this needs to be conveyed in the URL.

  1. When viewing a page select Page Properties - Page Properties.
  2. Within 'Page Properties' open the 'Custom' tab and set the default for 'Friendly URL to 'False'.

  3. Now enter the URL you would like to link to that page, removing any reference to 'http'. For example 'www.yoursite.com/page'. The URL has to be directed at the correct server - you can't just have www.facebook.com pointing to your events calendar! You can use any URL that isn't already in use on your site, or you can purchase a new one.
  4. Once you are happy with the Friendly URL click 'Save'.
  5. Friendly URLS are stored in a cache to reduce server load. Your change will not become active until you edit and re-approve the page.
