Friendly URLs
Friendly URLs are used when a certain page of the website has a well-known brand or identity associated with it, and this needs to be conveyed in the URL.
- When viewing a page select - Page Properties.
- Within 'Page Properties' open the 'Custom' tab and set the default for 'Friendly URL to 'False'.
- Now enter the URL you would like to link to that page, removing any reference to 'http'. For example 'www.yoursite.com/page'. The URL has to be directed at the correct server - you can't just have www.facebook.com pointing to your events calendar! You can use any URL that isn't already in use on your site, or you can purchase a new one.
- Once you are happy with the Friendly URL click 'Save'.
- Friendly URLS are stored in a cache to reduce server load. Your change will not become active until you edit and re-approve the page.
