What is the change?
If your website has Events pages, Channel Summary templates are now able to display Event information and offer the full range of Event search and filtering options that were previously only available on the Event Summary template.
The Event Summary template will cease to be offered as a template for creating new pages, although any existing Event Summary pages will be unaffected and can continue to be edited.
Why was the change necessary?
The Event Summary template was a cut-down version of the Channel Summary template which did not offer the full range of options that the Channel Summary template did. By enabling Events on Channel Summary, site authors have far greater control over how their Events are summarised and displayed on their site.
How will my site be affected?
There should be no visible impact on your site. All existing Channel Summary and Event Summary pages will continue to function exactly as they are now. When editing your site, authors will notice new options on the Channel Summary template. These are described in our Help article Configure your Channel Summary to show Events.
What do I need to check after the release?
Following the release, you may like to check that your Channel Summary pages and Event Summary pages are still displaying the correct information. If you believe that the release has had a negative impact on them, please contact the Helpdesk immediately and we’ll help you resolve the problem.

Will the new feature work on my site?
If your website was released before 1 March 2010, the first time you add events details to your Channel Summary, the event details may not display. Please contact the Helpdesk and we will quickly enable the feature for you. In some cases, the Event Search panel and calendar may not display correctly. This can quickly be resolved for you if you contact the Helpdesk.
